G.W. and Bill: Being in the Loop

May 31, 2009
Toronto was the site of some excitement on Friday as G.W. and Bill arrived to share their perspectives on the life of a president. Clinton got a little choked up when asked by the moderator, Frank McKenna (Vice-Chairman of TD Financial), about why he had not intervened in the 1994 massacre in Rwanda.

Unfortunately, both former presidents were clueless when it came to responding to Mckenna’s question about the US-Canada border new passport requirements. The leadership lesson is that those at the top are not always in the know or in the loop, instead relying on their subordinates (e.g., secretaries) to properly address the issues.
