The well-worn expression “Success breeds success” holds a great deal of practical truth. Yet there’s something superficial about it this saying. There’s more to being successful in the long-term.

The famous composer Irving Berlin (1888-1989) wrote hundreds of songs and is seen as one of music’s greatest songwriters. One of his masterpieces was White Christmas. Reflect on his words about success:

The toughest thing about success in that you’ve got to keep on being a success. Irving Berlin (composer)

It’s about hard work, some degree of luck and perseverance.
