Friday’s Leaderly Quotation: Lao-Tzu on Teamwork and Self-Empowerment

December 17, 2010

This week’s leaderly quotation is brought to you by 6th Century Chinese philosopher and mystic Lao-Tzu , sharing his philosophy on leadership and teamwork.

After reading this, take some time to reflect on how you practice your own leadership and how you interact with your co-workers and colleagues.

A leader is best when people barely know he exists,

not so good when people obey and acclaim him,

worse when they despise him.

But of a good leader,

who talks little,

when his work is done,

his aim fulfilled,

they will say:

“We did this to ourselves.”
